State Senator Neil Anderson has released the below statement following the guilty verdict of Tim Mapes, former Chief of Staff to Mike Madigan:
“This verdict further demonstrates just how deeply embedded the political corruption was under Mike Madigan’s leadership. While I’m glad to see these bad actors being held accountable under the law, Illinois must reform its current ethics laws that leave too much room for this kind of activity to take place. We also need to empower our local officials so that we aren’t always reliant on the feds to come in to clean up our corrupt mess. The citizens of Illinois deserve to have trust in their government, and that starts with strengthening our laws.”
