State Senator Neil Anderson has released the below statement following the U.S. Southern District Court’s ruling to prohibit the enforcement of Illinois’ “Assault” Weapons ban statewide while the case is litigated:
“This law is a complete overreach by the democratic majority party here in Illinois and I applaud the court’s ruling to halt its enforcement. This law has done nothing but punish law-abiding gun owners and prohibit them from exercising their constitutional right to bear arms. Friday’s order is a huge step in the case to protect that right.
“I continue to fully support and stand behind law-abiding gun owners who want to take part in their 2nd Amendment rights.”
