Sen. Anderson reacts to Chicago Mayor-Elect’s speech to General Assembly

State Senator Neil Anderson has released the below statement following a joint hearing on the House Floor Wednesday where Chicago Mayor-Elect Brandon Johnson addressed members of the 103rd General Assembly:

“While crime riddles the streets of Chicago, today’s speech from the Mayor-Elect was made up of nothing more than progressive delusions.

“When you tie government to philanthropy and what Johnson thinks is a noble cause, taxpayers will be left on the hook for it.

“Talk is cheap, and no real plans were laid out today—just political rhetoric. Crime is out of control and this Mayor should focus on how he’s going to make sure tourists aren’t getting beat in the street.

“The further we advance a progressive agenda, no matter if that agenda is implemented miles away in the city of Chicago, the entire state of Illinois will suffer.”
