Gov. Pritzker continues to strip residents of their constitutional right with new FOID law

State Senator Neil Anderson has released the following statement following Governor JB Prtizker’s action by signing House Bill 562 “FOID Modernization Act,” into law:

“The Governor and his bureaucrats continue to strip Illinoisans of their Constitutional right. Today was proof of that as Gov. Pritzker signed a bill into law regarding the FOID card that will place more burdensome restrictions on law-abiding gun owners across our state.

“House Bill 562 is a cash grab for our state and a stepping stone to further mandates along the way. Gun owners across our state are frustrated with the FOID Card and CCL License process and the major delays that continue to arise within the broken system. Instead of creating and implementing a new system, which is bound to be just as cumbersome, we should be looking into eliminating the FOID card altogether.

“While the Majority party touts a win on the passage of this legislation, this is a major loss and punishment to gun owners who have chosen to follow the law. I will continue to fight for our Second Amendment rights and work to repeal the redundant FOID Act.”
