Sen. Anderson reacts to Governor signing controversial police reform bill

State Senator Neil Anderson issues the below statement in response to Governor Pritzker signing House Bill 3653—the controversial police reform bill.

“To say I’m disappointed in the Governor’s action today would be an understatement. Since the passage of this legislation, law enforcement officers have been loud and clear about the detrimental impacts this law will have on the profession and our neighborhoods.

“Rather than veto the legislation and allow the Legislature to come back to the table to craft a proposal that hears the concerns of our communities and law enforcement professionals, the Governor chose to bypass a better solution, giving criminals the upper hand and putting our police officers and Illinoisans in harm’s way.”
