Expresses ethics, property tax concerns
State Senator Neil Anderson releases the below statement following the State of the State Address:
“We heard a lot of talk about the need for ethics reform, but now it’s time to put those words into action. The recent investigations and indictments of state lawmakers make it clear that if there’s ever been a time to crack down on government corruption and enact real reforms, it’s now.
“Lacking from today’s speech was any real solutions to provide property tax relief. As a senator whose district borders Iowa, it’s especially imperative to me that we have serious conversations about relieving the burden placed on homeowners.
“Meanwhile, there wasn’t any remarks at all on redistricting reform or any sort of mention on the issues impacting our agriculture community, which is the number one industry in the state. These are the biggest concerns I hear most from my constituents, and we must address them this General Assembly.”
