Sen. Anderson appointed to Senate Republican Leadership, youngest in over a century

Youngest member to serve on caucus leadership team in over a century

State Senator Neil Anderson was appointed to the Senate Republican Leadership team Tuesday, Jan. 15. Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) appointed Sen. Anderson to serve as Assistant Republican Leader.

In his new role, Sen. Anderson will work closely with Senate Republican Leadership on important legislation and issues facing the state.

“I’m really proud of the leadership team we’ve assembled for the 101st General Assembly,” said Leader Brady. “Sen. Anderson brings not only years of experience and a vast knowledge of state government, but also a unique perspective from the northwestern region of Illinois. I’m grateful to have Sen. Anderson on the team.”

“I’m extremely honored to be recognized and promoted to a leadership position, and look forward to serving in this role,” said Sen. Anderson. “As we enter a new General Assembly with a new Governor, working bipartisanly is more important than ever. Under the leadership of Sen. Brady, I’m confident that we’ll continue to stand up for the hardworking people of Illinois.”

According to records available for the past 110 years, Sen. Anderson is the youngest member known to serve on Senate Republican Leadership.
