Public welcome at ceremony honoring local first responders in Sterling/Rock Island

State Sen. Neil Anderson is inviting constituents to come to his First Responders Appreciation Ceremony in Sterling and Rock Island on Friday, Oct. 26.

The events will honor and recognize firefighters, police officers, and EMTs from the area, with several receiving awards for specific acts of bravery during the past year.

The first event takes place from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 26 at the Candlelight Inn, (2907 Locust Street) in Sterling.

The second event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 26 at Theo’s Java Club (213 17th St.) in Rock Island. Both are free.

If you are planning to attend, please R.S.V.P. to lyates@sgop.ilga.gov or call 217-782-2181 by Oct. 25.

Last year, the U.S. Senate passed legislation recognizing Oct. 28 as National First Responders Day.
