State Senator Neil Anderson has been recognized as a Friend of Agriculture by the Illinois Farm Bureau for his support of Illinois farmers and the agriculture industry.
Anderson received the recognition from the McDonough, Fulton and Schuyler County Farm Bureaus Tuesday morning.
“Agriculture isn’t just an industry in the communities I represent. It is a way of life and the backbone of our local economy,” said Senator Anderson. “Our farmers work hard, take risks every year and help feed families here at home and across the country. I’ll continue standing up for the men and women who farm our land and making sure their voices are heard in Springfield.”
The Friend of Agriculture Award recognizes legislators who have demonstrated support for farming and agriculture and understand the important role farmers play in producing food, fiber and fuel.
Senator Anderson has supported efforts important to Illinois agriculture, including legislation aimed at preserving family farms and addressing the impact of Illinois’ estate tax on farm families. He also took the lead on nuisance wildlife concerns, helping pass legislation addressing those issues for area farmers.
“Farmers know firsthand what challenges they are facing,” said Senator Anderson. “My job is to take those concerns to Springfield and work toward practical solutions that support agriculture and our rural communities.”
