Senator Anderson Opposes Budget That Puts Illegal Immigrant Spending Ahead of Taxpayer Relief

State Senator Neil Anderson has released the following statement following the passage of the 2027 State Budget:

“Another year, another record budget.

“Governor Pritzker and Democrats want Illinois families to believe they cannot afford tax relief, but always seem to find money for bigger government, new spending, and handouts for illegal immigrants.

“Since this Governor took office, state spending has increased by nearly 40 percent. Now they have just passed another budget with roughly $800 million in new taxes, fees, fund sweeps, and other gimmicks to keep the spending spree going.

“While families are paying more every time they fill up their tank, Democrats redirected $150 million generated by higher gas prices into government spending, which just so happens to be roughly the same amount they are spending on illegal immigrant programs and services. They always seem able to find money for illegals, but not for the taxpayers who are footing the bill.

“At the same time, this budget shortchanges local schools by underfunding transportation reimbursements and does nothing to help families facing skyrocketing energy costs.

“Illinois families have had to live within their means. Springfield should do the same.”
