Senator Anderson Responds to Governor’s Budget Address

State Senator Neil Anderson (R-Andalusia) released the following statement after the Governor’s annual State of the State and State Budget Address:

“I’m glad the Governor talked about expanding vocational programs. Illinois needs to invest in skilled trades, especially in West Central Illinois. But beyond that, this was the same old Springfield story: more spending, more government, and no serious plan to pay for it. Agriculture, the backbone of my district and the top economic driver in Illinois, was not even mentioned. While the United States economy has surged ahead, Illinois keeps falling behind because of high taxes and reckless spending. This budget is nearly a billion dollars out of balance unless they raise taxes again, and taxpayers cannot afford it.”
