State Senator Neil Anderson has released the following statement following the House of Representatives passage of “Fix the FOID” House Bill 562:
“This bill is another step towards stripping our Constitutional rights and does nothing to fix a broken system and the ongoing backlog of FOID card issues. House Bill 562 will place an unnecessary burden and increase costs for the private transfer of firearms, while also providing those in the majority with a greater chance of implementing mandatory fingerprinting in the future.
“What the Illinois Legislature should be doing is looking at ways to remove a redundant system and protect our Second Amendment rights.”
